Tetapi sesungguhnya, permasalahan Peru dan Indonesia berbeda. FIFA mencabut status Peru sebagai tuan rumah Piala Dunia U17 2023 yang dijadwalkan akan berlangsung pada 10 November hingga 2 Desember 2023. Alasannya masalah infrastruktur.
FIFA menilai, Peru tidak mampu memenuhi komitmen menyelesaikan infrastruktur yang dibutuhkan untuk menggelar turnamen.
“Langkah itu diambil karena ketidakmampuan negara tuan rumah dalam memenuhi komitmen menyelesaikan infrastruktur yang dibutuhkan untuk menggelar turnamen,” tulis FIFA.
Selanjutnya, FIFA akan menunjuk tuan rumah baru menggantikan Peru. Sementara itu, Piala Dunia U17 2023 rencananya bakal tetap berlangsung sesuai jadwal semula.
Terkait batalnya Piala Dunia U20 di Indonesia. FIFA menggunakan alasan “situasi terkini” sebagai dasar pencabutan status tuan rumah Indonesia pada turnamen elite level junior tersebut.
